The Imo Progressives Movement ,IPM on Sunday, August 31, 2025, held its Third National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting at its National Headquarters in Owerri, Imo State. The meeting drew together the coordinators of the Movement from all twenty-seven local government areas of the state, zonal coordinators, zonal women leaders, zonal youth leaders, State Directors, the Director General, members of the Board of Trustees, and the National Convener/Facilitator, Rt. Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu (MFHR).

The deliberations of NEC provided a platform for far-reaching decisions and inspiring reflections on the progress of the Movement and its unwavering commitment to the government of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, Executive Governor of Imo State. Members present took turns to commend the National Convener, Rt. Hon. Dibiagwu, for his sterling leadership of IPM and for his remarkable representation of Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Notably, NEC acknowledged the impactful initiatives which Rt. Hon. Dibiagwu has championed within just two years in office. These include youth and women empowerment programs, road construction and rehabilitation, school building projects, and trader-support grants. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Hon. Williams Ejiakor, went further to enumerate the numerous interventions that have touched lives and uplifted communities across the constituency. His submission underscored the conviction of NEC that Rt. Hon. Dibiagwu has lived up to the trust reposed in him by both his constituents and members of the IPM family.

In his remarks, the National Convener/Facilitator, Rt. Hon. Eugene Dibiagwu, expressed profound gratitude to members of NEC for their steadfastness, solidarity, and loyalty. He reiterated that the IPM remains a formidable political structure rooted in the vision of Governor Hope Uzodimma.

According to him, the political compass of the Movement derives solely from the guidance of the Governor, and he has no personal aspirations outside of that direction. He pledged to sustain the tempo of qualitative and accountable representation that has become the hallmark of his political stewardship.

A major highlight of the NEC session was the unanimous adoption of the motion for a vote of confidence in Governor Uzodimma. The motion, moved by the Director General of IPM, Comrade Jeff Nwaoha, and seconded by Comrade Greg Nwadike, was greeted with overwhelming approval.

Members described the Governor as a visionary leader whose infrastructural revolution, unprecedented increment of workers’ salaries, and wide-ranging reforms have repositioned Imo State on the path of sustainable growth and prosperity.

NEC noted with satisfaction that Governor Uzodimma’s developmental strides are unparalleled in the annals of Imo history, cutting across roads, health, education, civil service welfare, and industrial rejuvenation. Members resolved that the IPM will not only continue to project these achievements but will also mobilize support to ensure their consolidation in the years ahead.

In demonstration of this support, NEC further resolved to organize a comprehensive project tour across the state. The aim is to showcase the landmark achievements of the Governor to the world and celebrate his laudable vision. This initiative, NEC agreed, will further deepen the bond between the Governor and the citizens while reinforcing his transformational leadership.

Furthermore, NEC resolved to activate and energize the grassroots structures of IPM across the 305 electoral wards of Imo State to mobilize Imo people to take part in the ongoing voter registration exercise, so as to strengthen the democratic process and advance electoral participation in the State.

The Third NEC Meeting of the Imo Progressives Movement (IPM) ended with a renewed resolve to strengthen internal cohesion, deepen grassroots engagement, and actively contribute to democratic consolidation in Imo State. By outlining practical steps such as project tours and voter mobilization drives, IPM reaffirmed its role as a platform committed to service, accountability, and the collective advancement of Imo State.
